Simbu gets a make-over from Toni&Guy

Toni&Guy, the internationally reputed UK based chain with salons worldwide has given Silambarasan a new look and style for his next film Poda Podi.

Silambarasan will complete all work on Silambattam and start work on Poda Podifor Gemini Film Circuit to be directed by Vignesh Siva. Remember that Sarathkumar's daughter Varalakshmi is making her debut as heroine in this film.

In fact when Simbu had gone for location hunt to Toronto he had visited Toni&Guy salon and discussed about his looks for the film. And for the recent photo shoot of the film in Mumbai, the producers had stylists from the international brand fly down to give Simbu a new hair cut, styling and also coloured his hair.

Toni&Guy have more than 400 salons worldwide and have won many hairdressing awards globally. Poda Podi will be shot in one schedule for 90 days in Toronto and it will be a feel-good musical love story which will showcase Simbu in an all-new look. The unit has taken special permission from the Mayor in the city of Toronto to shoot the entire film there

The photoshoot with Simbu and Varalakshmi was done in Mumbai by Dabboo Ratnani the famous still photographer who rarely does films in Tamil. The pooja of Poda Podi will be held in September in Chennai. Simbu who is trying to avoid the camera these days is trying to hide this new hairstyle by having a bandana and cap. Last week at the audio launch of his best buddy Manoj (Telugu actor Mohan Babu's son) film, he was spotted with the bandana.

Silambarsan is close on the heels of completing 'Silambattam'. The movie is shaping up well for an early release. Soon after completing 'Silambattam', he would commence the shooting for his long shelved project 'Kettavan'.

Meanwhile, Silambarasan will feature in a movie to be directed by Sakthi Chidambaram.

The buzz is that it would be an action-packed entertainer and efforts are on to convince Shriya to play the lead role opposite Simbhu.

Shriya has cut down her salary to play part of Simbhu film.

Shreya’s ‘Silambattam’

We all have 24 hours for a day but looking at the number of films Shreya is acting in, looks like 48 hours for a day is not enough. In Tamil, she has 'Kandasamy,' 'Azhagiya Thamizh Magan' and a new film with Ajith. She has two films in Telugu. Her Hindi films include 'Ek' with Bobby Deol, 'Mission Istanbul' with Abhishek Bachchan. There's also the Hollywood film and a song with Vadivelu. Shreya's catalog does not end here. For many months Simbu's 'Silambattam' has been gathering grime and the project is being re-energized again. Saravanan turns director with this film. There was great gossip earlier about whether Simbu would be acting in this film. Now it has been deep-rooted that he is. They have approached Shreya to do the heroine role and it seems as soon as she heard that her quote was satisfying, she immediately okayed without even hearing the story. Simbu has first complete 'Kaalai' and then 'Kettavan.' It would be hardly amazing if Shreya has by then become a Hollywood dream girl! Shreya in a Hollywood film! Going to Hollywood is the vital aim of Tamil film personalities. When people were wonder if it would be Kamalhasan, Maniratnam or Shankar who would lead the list, Shreya has overtaken them! Ashok Amritaraj is a Tamilian who is a big producer in Hollywood. He is producing a film titled 'The Other End of the Line.' Directed by James Dodson, the film stars Jesse Metcalfe. When traveling together on a flight, Ashok has narrated the story to Shreya. A Mumbai call centre girl is in contact with Jesse in the US. The calls turn into love and the call centre girl flies to the US to meet Jesse. Shriya liked the story and immediately gave her call sheet to act as the call centre girl. This unexpected meeting on a flight has landed Shreya a role in Hollywood! Actually Ashok Amritraj had approached Priyanka Chopra for the role but she could not accept it as she had no free dates. That turned lucky for Shreya! One can say Shreya has a lucky mole!

Vishal on Nayantara, Simbu, Love and more

Simbu and Nayantara's 'love affair' during the filming of 'Vallavan' was well known and their onscreen chemistry fueled the fire. And then the 'break-up' happened leading to a plethora of speculation. Both tended to their businesses (filmmaking) and the fire seemed to have died down. But then there was a faint semblance of smoke leading to the thought that 'there can be no smoke without fire'. Both sitting next to each other in a protest meeting on the Cauvery issue, with countenances that revealed an untold story. They appeared as though there were vacant seats next to them. Their supposed 'patch-up' was the icing on the cake. And what's more…. news of Vishal and Trisha being instrumental for the patch up became top news. The man who seems to be in the headlines rather constantly for 'associations' with women, Simbu, denied emphatically about a 'patch-up' terming the conversation as a casual chat. If he had left it at that, things might have died down. But then our-man-flint has literally fed the press with delicious content by saying that 'Nayantara is in love with another actor'. Many started wondering if Simbu had been appointed Naynatara's spokesman. Speculations started with all permutations and combinations in mind. Since Vishal and Trisha were present during the supposed 'patch-up', grapevine worked over-time with two possibilities. One is that 'new lovers' Vishal and Trisha wanted to get Simbu and Trisha together. Another version was that the actor mentioned by Simbu was none other than Vishal.

Simbu as Billa

Silambarasan has expressed his admiration for Ajith on several occasions. His maiden directorial venture 'Vallavan' saw Silambarasan play a youth who admires Ajith. 'Kaalai' featured him with a few scenes with posters of Ajith. The actor seems to have gone a step ahead now and will be appearing with the 'Billa' look in his forthcoming venture 'Silambattam'. According to sources, Simbu comes in 'Billa' attire in the climax scene with the same background scored used for Ajith. Anu Vardhan (wife of director Vishnuvardhan), the costume designer of 'Billa' made some changes in the same suit that Ajith wore for 'Billa', to fit Simbu's size. Simbu even utters some dialogues made by Ajith in 'Billa' for 'Silambattam'

Poda Podi - Simbu and Varalakshmi

Actor-Politician dad Sarath Kumar is all supportive of his daughter Varalakshmi's debut in Kollywood. Even though Sarath Kumar has given his daughter full freedom and believes that she is a mature and intelligent girl who can handle anything on the sets of Poda Podi with Silambarasan, he is still being a typical father and being a protective dad. If sources are to be believed, Sarath has talked to all his close friends in the industry, to watchout for his daughter and inform him immediately if, she is into any kind of problem. Silambarasan who heard this is said to be spending time only on his laptop keeping himself away from the outside world to avoid problems. The pooja of the Silambarasan – Varalakshmi starrer is scheduled to be held on August 15th in Toronto. The movie is to be directed by Vigesh siva and the cinematography is by Nirav Shah. The movie will have a title song sung by Silambarasan and Varalakshmi for the music by Dharan of Sivi fame. The lyrics of this song is penned by Vairamuthu. Vara Lakshmi makes her kollywood debut oppotie Simbu in the movie Thiru Poda Thirumathi Podi – Dandanakka Jodi which is jointly Produced by Gemini Film Circuit and Shanaya Tele films.

Silambattam Songs -Rachna, Maurya and 100 girls

A song shot in a grand and aesthetically appealing set which costs a fortune, with a bevy of beauties dancing along, has always been the cynosure of his father T. Rajendar's films, and it is also so now in his films. Simbu makes sure every film of his has a song with a grand set and eye-popping models. Remember 'Manmadhan' of Manmadhan and 'Loosu Pennae' of Vallavan, which starred models from Mumbai and abroad? Keeping in line with this trend, Simbu shot a song for his upcoming Silambattam with Mumbai item girl Rachna Maurya and about 100 models from Mumbai. The song cost approximately Rs. 75 lakhs. Simbu, who has a penchant of introducing some difficult and catchy dance movements with every film he does, has worked on some real and never-seen-before dance moves in this song too. In Silambattam, Simbu plays a temple priest who turns into a violent man under some compelling circumstances. Sana Khan is his heroine. The shooting will be over by August, after which filming for Poda Podi begins. Sarathkumar's daughter Varalakshmi debuts in Poda Podi as an actress.

The flamboyant Sharat Kumar is busy with his serious preparations to get into politics, but at home, his elder daughter, Varalakshmi is all set to make her film debut. Her choice of film however has raised a few eyebrows. The trouble-prone Simbu is now getting ready to launch yet another new film of his. He had been accepting quite a number of offers in recent past, but none of the films has hit the theatres. There was one which was almost complete, but he ended up creating some misunderstanding with the heroine and has now forced the producer to bring in a new one and is now reshooting more than 40% of the film again with the new heroine! This time, he has accepted the offer to star in a film named 'Poodaa Poodi'. It is in this film that Varalakshmi is going to make her debut in. the film's director had first approached Sharat Kumar to get his consent. He said that he had no objections if his daughter was willing. The title might not be the final one as its still not sure if they will use the title Thiru Pooda and Thirumathi Poodi. Another possible title is Mr Poda Mrs Podi.

Simbu on Nayantara, Vishal, Love and more

Simbu and Nayantara's 'love affair' during the filming of 'Vallavan' was well known and their onscreen chemistry fueled the fire. And then the 'break-up' happened leading to a plethora of speculation. Both tended to their businesses (filmmaking) and the fire seemed to have died down. But then there was a faint semblance of smoke leading to the thought that 'there can be no smoke without fire'. Both sitting next to each other in a protest meeting on the Cauvery issue, with countenances that revealed an untold story. They appeared as though there were vacant seats next to them. Vishal and Nayantara's sizzling 'cuddly….cuddly' stills from the movie 'Sathyam' cried out loud about a 'hot relationship' happening. This prompted Vishal who is known for his clear way of speaking to come out and categorically deny any love affair with Nayantara. However he said, 'we meet up every week as with other people as well just as colleagues from any industry do'. He also added in a jocular vein that Nayantara would not act with him again especially because of the 'torture' he had subjected her to during filming. He had wanted her to reduce weight and get in shape for a song which she obliged and said it had done a world of good for the song sequence. But then the usually unambiguous Vishal has also added some fuel by saying that he is in love with an actress and found nothing wrong if an actor and an actress marry. He however did not name the actress. 'Do people consider it strange for a software engineer to marry another software engineer? Then why shouldn't an actor marry an actress?' he asks. He also denied 'arranging' the meeting between Simbu and Nayantara by saying that when the two were conversing, the lights came on because the party was over and that he along with his friends left the place.

Simbhu looks for fresh girls from north

As girls in Kollywood run away from the place if they hear the name of Simbhu as they think Simbhu means Vambhu, Simbhu is suffering from loneliness. With no other option, Simbhu is looking for girls who are innocent about this field and have no links with local Kollywood girls. His new movie will be titled Podaa… Vaadee… The title itself makes the girls run away. Simbu to take care of Shreya

After the party of Shreya to Vadivelu, there was no one to take care of Shreya other than those who recently enjoyed one such, i.e. Kanthasamy team which includes Vikram. As there is no takers for her, Simbhu, little finger hero. who always pulls in controversy has taken Shreya and proved himself that he has not changed in any way. Almost Simbhu is without movie for 3 years now mostly because of his Vambu nature and still he creates trouble for himself.

Simbhu+Silambu

Simbhu is young and funny. Most of the time his imaginations are wild and he thinks great of himself with over confidence. He is going to deliver some dialogues in the movie Silambattam and he feels these dialogues will make the theaters vibrate? What is that dialogue he is going to deliver? Is it going to be in the way something Sivaji sir delivers? Even if it is the same dialogue then one should have the voice and image to create vibration in the theater, is that not? Can Simbhu do the same thing Sivaji sir do? We enquired what will be the dialogue, just to alert our readers before the theaters started vibrating! He says that he will repeat saying "Pirichchi Maenchiduven" He confidently says "My this two word dialogue in combination with my fingering tricks???? will surely make the film a super hit"

New punch dialogue for Simbu

When we hear the word 'punch dialogues' the first name that pops up in our mind is superstar Rajinikanth. But lately there have been lots of followers – budding actors who have tried to deliver punch dialogues in their films too. One prominent name in the latest list of actors who is popular in delivering 'punch' dialogues is Silambarasan. In all his films Simbu has a punch dialogue that he keeps repeating throughout the film. We have seen it in 'Manmadhan', 'Dhum' and 'Alai'. The dialogue that will be repeated by this young hero throughout this film will be 'Pirichi Menchiruvaen'. We have seen this star waving his hands in the air before, all we hope is that whatever he does in this film will be interesting and different from the other films of his. 'Silambattam' is being directed by S. Saravanan under the banner of Lakshmi Movie Makers Limited. The film has Silambarasan and Sana Khan playing the lead roles and in the posters that are out, the hero dons the role of a typical 'Iyer'. Simbhu wants hindi

Even though there is no movie for Simbhu in Tamil and there is no one to speak a single word positive about him, he now wants to move to hindi. There are few Kollywoodians who pray to their god, for him to move away to Mumbai instead of causing unwanted news here. The reason of his plans for hindi is that he want to remake one of his Tamil movies, as Gajini is being remade in hindi.

Simbhu kidnaps his director

G.T. Nandu, director of the movie Kettavan starring Simbhu was in deep trouble before couple of weeks. Though we weren't able to bring the latest fact, we have got the best for you. Actor Simbhu, who is always known for getting into controversies had great problem with Director G.T. Nandu. During the shooting of Kettavan, there was some clash between both of them. Though the flaw was on the part of Simbhu, he wasn't accepting it and finally he had a great disastrous plan for Nandu. He had pulled and left him in a dark room over for a long time. Later some of the other crewmembers of the film unit had save him.

Simbu consults Bharath on Kajal

It has been officially announced that Kajal Agarwal plays the second heroine in Silambarasan's 'Silambattam'. Director Saravanan made an extensive search before zeroing in on Kajal Agarwal. He has signed her up for the movie after consulting the hero. The hero gave his nod after consulting his friend and co-star Bharath about the professional attitude of the actress. Bharath gave a clean chit to the actress, who acted with him in 'Pazhani'. Bharath seemed to have explained about her professional ethics, particularly punctuality, to Silambarasan. This has convinced Silambarasan, who has accepted the choice with satisfaction. So 'Silambattam' will have Sana Khan and Kajal as the heroines. Prabhu, who has been doing important roles in young heroes' films, is playing a crucial role in 'Silambattam'.

Silambattam’: Dhina out Yuvan in

Yuvan Shankar Raja, the favorite music director of Silambarasan, has been roped in for the film 'Silambattam'. This has effectively puts Dhina, the original music composer of the film, out of the project. Dhina however, has no regrets, as the decision was taken by Silambarasan after consulting him. Though Simbu, who has a special taste for music, has high regards for Dhina's talents, he prefers Yuvan, as both of them work brilliantly as a team to bring out excellent stuff. So Simbu decided to go for Yuvan and he explained his feelings to Dhina, who gracefully accepted to step down. The decision is also viewed by some as a two-in-one strategy of Silambarasan. Since Yuvan does music for 'Kettavan', Silambarasan might have thought that the time spent for the composing could be useful for both films. The teaming up of the successful combo of Simbu and Yuvan has undoubtedly increased the expectations of 'Silambattam', which is growing on a steady pace.

Silambarasan and Jeyam Ravi lead the rival teams. Raj TV and Hash Mobile organized the match. Silmabarasan was out for a duck. But in true filmy style, his team beat Jeyam Ravi's team by 46 runs, thus save Simbhu's image. Simbu and cigarette

Silambarasan too joins the prestigious team of actors, who have decided to give up smoking on screen. Following Rajinikanth and Vijay, Silambarasan too has decided to discard smoking in his films. The young hero says that he doesn't want to be a negative example for his fans, which would follow him. When queried about his smoking scenes in his recent film 'Kaalai', the young actor says that the movie was shot long back. He also assures that it would be the last movie in which he smokes. Silambarasan, is quite happy that his image has been changed in the recent times. His 'bad boy' image is a thing of past, he says. According to him, the TV programme 'Jodi No 1' was the major reason for this change. "The programme has definitely contributed to the change in my image in people's mind. It made people understand my real self", says Simbu. The programmed fetched him some embarrassment too. His role in the programmer has been ridicule by some in some other programmes. Simbu, who is aware of this development, doesn't bother. He feels that they just add to his publicity. However, he has made up his mind not to do any such programmes in future? Does he want to avoid such embarrassments? No. "I am very busy with my commitments in films".

Kaalai Movie Review

Cast : Silambarasan, Vedhika, Sangeetha, Nila Direction: Tarun Gopi Music: G V. Prakash Production: NIC Arts Chakravarthy You wouldn't expect a classic tale of movie making from a director – Tarun Gopi – whose previous official document include a hardcore commercial potboiler, Thimiru. Having said that, we did expect a racy entertainer with Simbu's return after a brief sabbatical creating enough and more hype. However, Kaalai, Tarun Gopi's second venture and first with Simbu is a classic case of too much in too little time. With too little scenes that substantiate the sense of logic, Tarun Gopi has royally squandered an opportunity. Less said the better about the story. Simbu shares his name with two other people - one villain and one cop-turned-baddie and the situations arising out of it promise enough curiosity for a while as soon as the movie opens. However, it eventually fizzles out when the movie takes a turn for better or for worse. Seema – Simbu's grandmother – slays five men, mind you when she was only ten, since they flouted her father's advices and distilled alcohol illegally in the village also involving in other shady activities. The villagers, for her noble act, consider her their head after her return from the prison and are peaceful under her reign. However, trouble crops up in the name of a police officer – Lal – whose ego is hurt when challenged by the fellow policeman's son that he can't find anything illicit in Simbu's village, ruled by the godmother Seema. Lal tries - but to no avail - to nail somebody from the village for any charges and ends being thrashed up the villagers. Predictably, he returns back with a vengeance and in the dirty war, burns Seema alive. Enough reason for Simbu to seek retribution for his loss. Simbu returns to Chennai, uses the tried and tested formula to woo Lal's daughter Vedhika, and after a couple of duets seize her as a hostage on revenge of his grand mom's death. With a script that has more holes than a fish net, it's evident that Simbu could just not help the ship from sinking. However, his mind-boggling stunt scenes and the dance sequences especially for songs 'Kutti Pisaase' and 'Kaalai Kaalai' are stupendously performed. Particularly, Kutti Pisaase might send his fans on a homesick trip to the good old days when Simbu sang and danced 'I am a little star'. Vedika's character is left to deal with a few duets in measly outfits in exotic locales with an almost innocent face. Alas, she vanishes from the movie abruptly even before its end. Santhanam – Simbu duo's comic act has lesser than desired results. Veteran Seema's grandmother-godmother act refuses to fade after she is brutally charred alive in the movie. Sangeetha plays Simbu's aunt and yes, her role is of utmost importance. If you must insist, here is how. It's only when she gets spanked by Lal that violence erupts uncontrollably in the village. Lal's villainy seems to be born with him and he is prominent with his viciousness in the movie that is also swarmed with many other such likes. R.D.Rajasekar's camera brings in unsullied frames of fresh locales during the duet scenes. G.V. Prakash stands out in two songs and scores an average for background music. Had Tarun Gopi worked on the script for a taut screenplay coupled with some interesting twists, Simbu's Kaalai would definitely have been a joy ride. Outcome: Action

Silambarasan on Kaalai

Good news for all Silambarasan fans- his latest offering Kaalai is all ready for release and will be censored tomorrow. Kaalai is hot property!

Silambarasan after his stretch across TV channels is now back to doing what he does best, acting that is. The actor was wavering between the sets of Kaalai, Kettavan and Silambattam when fortunately Kettavan had to be postponed to make way for speedy completion of Kaalai. Sangeetha may pair with Simbu’s Kaalai!!!

The latest buzz doing rounds in the industry is that Sangeetha has been roped in to play the second heroine to Silambarasan for a movie titled Kaala. Sangeetha is acting with Madhavan in 'Evano Oruvan' and now it is heard that Sangeetha may pair with Simbu. She was considered a jinxed actress in Tamil industry a few years ago. But she turns things around with a splendid portrayal in director Bala's Pithamagan. She followed it up with a bold portrayal in Uyir. Now the actress has completed shooting for Evano Oruvan opposite Madhavan. In Tarun Gopi's 'Kaalai,' Simbu is supposed to have 2 heroines. After Trisha and Asin were considered, the choice fell on Genelia. Then she was also dropped and finally Vedika of 'Muni' fame was signed on. They have asked for Sangeetha's call sheet for the other heroine role. There is an old villi role in the film and they are trying to get Hindi film actress Rekha to do it. Like Perarasu, Mishkin and Cheran, Tarun Gopi is also turning poet. With Vairamuthu and Tamarai, Tarun Gopi is also writing lyrics. The music composer is Yuvan Shankar Raja. Besides playing the lead role, Silambarasan has penned lyrics for a song. If everyone turns lyricist, what happens to the poets by profession?

‘Silambattam’ director in look for a theatre

Silambattam' is directed by Saravanan starring Silambarasan in the lead role. The director is in search of a theatre to tell his story on screen. The story of the film has a theatre as one of its strong components. Saravanan, while writing the story had the Virumbakkam National theatre, which is located in the outskirts of Chennai in his mind. But before he could ask the owners of the hall Ilayathalapathy Vijay had purchased the hall and started constructing a shopping complex in that place. The director was in search of another theatre and finally he had finalized the theatre which is located in Vishakapattinam.

Kaalai Music Review

Kaalai's Silambarasan, Vedhika, Sangeetha, Vadivelu and Lal in the main roles. Nila has performed an item number. Tharun Gopi, who gave the super hit Thimiru, directs Kaalai. Cinematography is by R.D. Rajasekhar and editing by Antony. G.V. Prakash Kumar's music for Kaalai differs from all his earlier compositions. His effort to present intelligent pieces contributes to satisfaction while listening. 'Kaala Kaala' by Benny and Mamta Mohandas is a tuneful melody. That Mamta is a singer with a difference is proved in this composition. She adorns the song, highlighting the beautiful nuances, pausing suitably in places, thus giving Benny's vocal competence a chance to shine. 'Guthka Lakhidi' by Lucky Ali and Sunidhi Chauhan is basically a western tune created using folk type orchestration. Lucky Ali's bold voice creates a refreshing feeling. Sunidhi's voice is a perfect foil to Lucky Ali's and also displays her innate talent. 'Kutti Pisase' is a typical Kuthu song by Suchithra and Silambarasan. By singing this song so beautifully, Simbu displays yet another of his many talents. Suchithra's voice sparkles with its usual charm; throughout the song one can feel that they are singing in harmony and with excellent rapport. The next piece in the album 'Eppo Nee' is a chorus supplemented by Madhusri's honeyed voice. Without too many musical twists and turns, the song stands out because of Madhusri's brilliant rendering. The gentle background beat is the icing on the cake. 'Vanduttaanda Kaalai' is a rap number that is interesting, both for its rhythm and content. The song begins with just lyrics and gains tempo as it progresses. It is thoroughly charged with joyful feelings. The last song is 'Veeramulla', based on an earthy tune and sung by Paalakkaadu Sreeram, Manicka Vinayagam and Tharun Gopi. Selecting voices that vary in texture and modulations, the composer has added a significant dimension and weight to the song, so much so that its energy and essence are almost palpable. Kaalai going places!

Simbu is eagerly awaiting his next release Kaalai, which is to style the screens for Pongal. Meanwhile, director Tarun Gopi, currently busy with the postproduction work, is pondering over where to shoot one last song that remains to be canned. Finally, Australia was chosen as an appropriate location for this fast-paced song and the team was ready to travel there. Unfortunately, denial of Visas, for some unknown reasons, exacerbates the situation. Amidst this, Silamabarasan had to travel to Malaysia for the star night organized by the Actors' Union to raise funds for the construction of a new building. This had Tarun Gopi eyeing Malaysia as an appropriate location for canning the song as Silamabarasan was already there and that it would hasten things up. Now, that's a director who thinks on his feet.

Asin pairs with Simbu?

Exit Lekha Washington, enter Asin: this is the latest news from the 'Kettavan' Unit! At the muhurat of his latest film 'Silambattam', Silambarasan said that he had made many changes in 'Kettavan'. He evaded the question when asked whether the heroine Lekha was shown the door. Reliable sources, however, reveal that Silambarasan has decided to remove Lekha and rope in Asin in 'Kettavan'. It is known to everyone that Silambarasan is planning to re-start the shooting of 'Kettavan' only after finishing 'Kaalai' and 'Silambaattam'. The original producers too have opted out of the project and it will be produced under the banner of V. Ravichandran's Oscar Films. When Oscar Ravichandran approached Vijaya T. Rajendhar for Simbu's call-sheet for a new film, it appears that T.R. told him to take over 'Kettavan' instead of launching a new film with Simbu in the lead. It is said that Ravichandran had even agreed to and returned the Rs.3 crores of money that the previous producer of 'Kettavan' had spent. Insiders disclose that Simbu's sudden change of mind towards the VJ turned actor Lekha is the main reason for all the aforesaid changes. Add to this Silambarasan's new found liking for Asin and you know what all the fuss is about. Feelers have been sent to Asin to persuade her to accept the offer. One might think that Silambarasan is acting too big for his own comfort. But he can afford to do so, given his current market value. He is one of the leading saleable and bankable stars in the industry and has been the distributors' darling for quite sometime now. It is said that his market value is next only to Vijay and Ajith. Business circles say that his Kaalai has fetched Rs. 18 crores. So, Silambarasan enjoys the 'luxury' of changing the heroine after shooting more than 30 per cent of the movie.

Kettavan lacking and Kaazai present

Simbhu was busy doing a couple movies at the same time, one in Kettavan and other in Kaazai. He was more expectant in Kettavan and for that he was having a long hair, but Kettavan production has been stopped in the middle. He was acting in Kaazai with the same get-up as he had for Kettavan, but as Kettavan is until further notice stopped, he has changed his hair style. To be noted is that for more than a year, there was no movies from Simbhu, which makes his fans sad.

Simbu`s `Silambattam`

Actor Simbu

Simbu will not have a release in 2007. His last release was Vallavan, in November 2006 Diwali. Now he has accomplished the shoot of his Kaalai, which the trade is hoping will hit the screens for Pongal 2008. The boy has an opening and if he plays his cards well, he will become the fastest rising star among the young guns of Kollywood!

This Friday (December 7) Simbu is going to start his new film Silambattam, for the impressive banner Lakshmi Movie Makers (LMM) for whom it will be their 25th film. It is also going to be the executive debut of cameraman Saravanan, a buddy of Simbu.

Guess what role Simbu is in performance in the film? He is going to don the role of a Apaavi (innocent) 'Poojari' in a temple who due to definite state of affairs is forced to take law into his hand!

The shoot of the film will take place in the temple towns of Kumbakonam, Tiruvayur, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and towns like Vizag, Rajhamundhry, and Hyderabad in Andhra. The star cast will also have Santhanam, Ganja Karuppu, Karnas and music by Dheena.

And the most imperative aspect in a Simbu film is the heroine. He and director Saravanan are going to launch Sana Khan a new Mumbai girl.

Three Jeevas - Simbu - Lal

You might have seen one actor playing three different roles, but have you ever seen or even heard of three actors playing one character. No, and why? Because, logically speaking, that is impossible. So that's not happening. But something is being attempted in these lines. Well, as per the story, three characters, all with the same name, chase the other two.

Now, we don't know who is chasing whom and for what. Confusing enough to be a Manoj Night Shyamalan film, but the good news is that the idea doesn't belong to him or even to Hollywood. It is much closer home, Tarun Gopi. Readers may be aware that Tarun Gopi is currently busy directing the Simbu-starrer, Kaalai.

A few weeks back Behindwoods.com had reported of Vedika dancing in the middle of the road in broad daylight for the movie. If you thought that things couldn't get any different, then you are wrong. The entire script seems to be out of the ordinary. Three characters have the same name – Jeeva, being played by Simbu (Jeeva 1), Lal (Jeeva 2) and new-face Sunil (Jeeva 3). Simbu is the hero and Lal is, obviously, the villain, and it is still not clear as to how Sunil fits into the picture.

So, we are told, the story is about No.1, No.2 and No.3 being involved in a game of hide-and-seek. So, assuming that No.2 is after No.3 and No.3 is trying to get to No.1 in order to keep away from No.2. Knowing that, No.2 chases No.1 to stop him from getting to No.3. But No.1, being the hero, gets to No.3 and goes after No.2 to stop him from getting to No.3. So, can No.3 keep himself away from No.2 with the help of No.1 and can No.1 take No.2 to task for going after No.3 could be the story. Oh boy! this is quite confusing, than interesting, but Tarun Gopi has promised a razor sharp script which will move at a great pace. There is also reportedly a lot to watch out for in the pre-interval scenes.

And finally, a status report on Kaalai. Everything is on track with a schedule in Italy being planned for next month to shoot a song featuring Simbu and Vedhika.

Simbu offers heavy package to Shriya

According to the latest buzz, Simbu reportedly offered Shriya a whopping Rs 65 lakh to act opposite him in his next film titled Silambattam. In fact, Simbu had insisted the producers of the film to sign only Shriya at any cost. According to the gossip, Simbu had received an advance payment for the film a few months ago. But the film, which was postponed due to various circumstances. Reportedly, Simbu has instructed the producers not to pay the director and also told the producers to cut corners with regards to the payment of all the other artistes who are yet to be signed on for the film. This is being done to compensate for the payment being given to Shriya.

Simbhu’s Japanese relationship

Kettavan is progressing day in and out at full speed. Given Simbu's desire for action sequences, Kettavan will also have staggering stunt scenes. This time around, the crew seems to have imported Japanese stuntmen for shooting the scenes. The scenes are scheduled to be shot in the Guindy Race Course.

Source suggests that Simbu has planned to deploy six cameras, as reported by us earlier, to can the scenes. The scenes are being conceptualized with the Japanese artists in the Race Course. Simbu will join the shoots after the scenes are choreographed and ready to be shot.

Kettavan is Kettavan

Finally Simbu has made his stand firm regarding the title 'Kettavan'.

After all the news about Simbu's Kettavan being renamed, Simbu has confirmed that he is keen on keeping the same title as it is the perfect title for the story. Even considering of a name change later is not at all possible as there could not be anothter perfect title for the movie, Simbu added.

Simbu also explains that the title expresses the makeover of a man after his love failure.

Simbu, Prakash off to Bangkok

Tharun Gopi's Kaalai starring Silambarasan is being shot rapidly. The movie which stars Vedhika in the female lead has musical score by G V Prakash Kumar.

The latest murmur is that G V Prakash Kumar and Silambarasan would be off to Bangkok soon to do the remixing and background score for the movie.

Bangkok is whirling out to be a favorite destination for Tamil music composers.

Silambarasan's Vallavan had Yuvanshankar Raja taking off to Bangkok to compose the tunes.

Remix in Silambaattam!

Remixes highlight today's trend in song symphony for films.

Now it is Simbu's turn to feature an oldiest set to new and popular instrumentation. Simbu's Manmadhan had one of the best remixes 'En Asai Maithiliye' lifted from his father Vijaya.T. Rajendar's hit.

Now Silambaattam has 'Nalamthaanaa' from the classic Sivaji film Thillana Mohanambal.

Silambaattam, produced by Lakshmi Movie Makers and directed by cinematographer Saravanan, has Simbu in the lead role. Music is by Dheena.

Of course, audience will be curious to see how this song with a classical base is going to get dressed up with modern sounds.

Simbu speaks out…

Silambarasan's 'Kaalai' is almost completed. The movie would be released for this Pongal. Directed by Tharun Gopi, the movie is an action-packed entertainer with all commercial elements.

Asked about the storyline, Silambarasan, says, "I plays a youth called Jeeva. There are a couple of other characters called Jeeva in the movie. For all their wrong-doings, I land up in problem. How I beat them forms the core."
Asked why a big break after Vallavan, he says, '"Vallavan was the result of my hard work. It took over a year for me to complete 'Vallavan'. I wanted my next to be more striking and rich in content. Clearly I took my own time."
Simbu further put in, "Kettavan which has been temporarily halted will resume this March. I would be directing the movie. A song would be recorded for the world renowned OSO Studios in London. It would be shot featuring Namitha with 100 junior artistes. We are planning to use only Indian musical instruments for recording the song"
"Silambatttam is ready to go to floors. Directed by cinematographer Saravanan, Silambattam is produced by Lakshmi Movie Makers. It is likely that Shreya may play my heroine. Dhina will score the music", says Simbhu.

Sneha in ‘Silambattam’

Simbu

Simbu has a strange luck when it comes to heroine Sneha his films. On one hand, he has cool characters like Yana Gupta and Mandira Bedi. On the other he has a confusing Lekha

After 'Kaalai' and 'Kettavan,' Simbu is acting in 'Silambattam.' It is the first film directed by cinematographer Saravanan. After a tiny break from production, Lakshmi Movie Makers produce this film.

Simbu has two heroines in the film. Producer K Muralidharan says Sneha is one of the heroines, but Sneha herself is rather feeble over this.

Sneha is acting day and night as she has 7 film assignments on hand – 3 in Telugu and 4 in Tamil namely 'Aruvadai,' 'Pirivom Sandhippom,' 'Inba' and 'Pandi.'

Sneha - "Because I have no free dates, I could not act in 'Kaalai.' I would like to act in 'Silambattam' but the call sheet…" She lags.

The producer seems wedged on having Sneha as the heroine, so she may well end up doing silambattam!

Sneha With Simbu in Silambattam ?

Actor Simbu

Simbu's Silambattam is Lakshmi Movie Makers 25th film which will also be the first appearance of noted cameraman

Saravanan as a director. The shooting of this movie is going to start soon. Silambarasan is acting as the hero in the movie.

There are two heroines in this movie and Sneha has been approach for one of the heroine role.

It can be recalled that Sneha was made-up to act with Simbu in Kalai but could not because of call sheet problems. Now she

Even though everyone knows there's always trouble where Simbu is troubled, he does not give the impression to lack offers.

Lingusamy's company Tirupathi Brothers took off with its maiden venture 'Deepavali' starring Jayam Ravi and Bhavana and directed by Ezhil. Since the film did not do too well, Lingusamy decided to take a break from producing films.

Now Lingusamy has decided that Tirupathi Brothers is ready to start its next project. His subordinate R Paneerselvam (as different from O Paneerselvam) will direct the as yet untitled film. It is said it will most probably feature Simbu in the main role.

It is all too easy for Lingusamy to direct his own production. Does he not want to take risks?"I started my making company with the intention of giving other directors an break. That's why I do not direct the films I produce," explains Lingusamy.Yes, he does indeed have a generous heart!
